Editors’ Note

Issue 1 of Biochar Magazine contains a world of subtle, shimmering magic. Its works show daily scenes heightened by detail into something sacred, to fantastical images made raw and real. The poems and prose exemplify the unique power of writing to reveal truths about relationships, youth, recovery, and other aspects of our reality. Biochar Magazine was created because of the belief that something can be formed from the remnants of something else. Issue 1 has more than embodied that belief; it has elevated it to reality. 

Biochar Magazine’s first issue was made possible by the perseverance and hope that inspired the magazine’s creation. Such perseverance and hope was made possible by everyone who contributed their invaluable time and thoughts. To the editors, thank you for your insight and your patience; your contributions are invaluable and Biochar Magazine would not be what it is without you. To the contributors, thank you so much for entrusting us with your words; we are more than honored to be a home for your work.
